'Sir Francis Bernard Dicksee PRA, KCVO (27 November 1853 – 17 October 1928) was an English Victorian painter and illustrator, best known for his pictures of dramatic literary, historical, and legendary scenes. He also was a noted painter of portraits of fashionable women, which helped to bring him success in his own time.'
I am a fan of Frank Dicksee's beautiful portraits. His fine brush strokes bring the subjects to life on the canvas and have an ethereal, romanic renaissance feel.
While I am slightly bashful about his oft risqué portrayals of ancient heroines and legends, I admire them nonetheless and remain enthralled by the depth, mastery of light and captivating beauty that his art conveys.
