The Enchanted Home

This is one of my favourite websites right now.
A blog site 'where blue and white is always a good idea',
The Enchanted Home is quite an inspiration.
Refined, with a good dose of traditionalism, the beautiful design is seamlessly executed. And wowzer, is it a house to behold!
Seeing such a meticulously thought out interior is quite a pleasure for me. The blue and white application has inspired me to get some vases for our little Hong Kong city apartment. Encouraged by The Enchanted Home's tip of grouping blue and white items together, I think I'll put the new vases in the living room as indoor pots for pretty climbing vines. Updates on that later.
For now, please enjoy these images, all from The Enchanted Home, and visit her wonderful site for more information.

English Country Homes

In contrast to sprawling expansive estates, English country homes look cosy but are actually often large buildings that make wonderful homes. Many of the large older heritage houses are now divided into multiple residences, such as this beautiful wisteria covered house that was in my dear beloved's family for many years.
It's popular for those who can afford a country home to have one as a peaceful getaway, but it's also an option to commute in order to enjoy the best of both worlds.

English Mansions

'An English country house is a large house or mansion in the English countryside. Such houses were often owned by individuals who also owned a town house. This allowed them to spend time in the country and in the city—hence, for these people, the term distinguished between town and country. However, the term also encompasses houses that were, and often still are, the full-time residence for the landed gentry. These people were central to the squirearchy that ruled rural Britain until the Reform Act 1832. Frequently, the formal business of the counties was transacted in these country houses.'

From British Mansions to quaint country homes and cottages, the architecture, gardens and ornate interiors of celebrated historical eras remind of a time when resplendence and luxury living were a way of life, and brought jobs and livelihood to the surrounding community.
